3 coat trends that make my winter outfits so much cooler

When it comes to shopping, among other things, the age of the internet and social media is both a blessing and a curse. With limitless options for online reading and constant outfit inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest, there’s always another perfect buy hanging in front of my face – something I think I do. need, begging to be purchased with a single click in one step. Being so easy, I often find myself impulse buying fleeting trends or something that I discover and love in the moment without thinking about how it will fit into my wardrobe in the long run, or with what. I will even wear it. It wasn’t until weeks later, after still not wearing the piece (or maybe wearing it once) that I realize that it actually was not needed and I will probably sell it on Poshmark or TheRealReal before it debuts.

The truth is, my wardrobe keeps growing with new purchases, and yet I still end up wearing the same few basic rotating pieces. When you’re preparing in a hurry or going out with the desire to feel both confident and comfortable in your outfit, it’s natural to turn to these proven pieces that always get the job done. Everyone’s got that pair of jeans they’re always looking for or that perfectly fitted top that shows off all the right places: the pieces that make you feel like a million bucks, no matter where you go, no matter how bad. they are simple.

In trying to be more aware of my shopping habits versus my wearing habits, I focused my energy on splurging on pieces that will enhance my wardrobe basics, not replace them. Among the list of follies? Playful accessories, colorful and flirtatious shoes, and the most important this season – the evening coat: a jacket that will cause a sensation that will instantly transform a minimalist outfit into a set that will turn heads.

Jackets and coats are often grouped under the category of “functional” purchases. I need a topper that will protect me from the freezing days of winter and that will go with most outfits, which is why I go for the practical black or neutral coat. Yet why should I match my jacket to my outfit, when I can instead build my outfit around the jacket? I want to step out into the world in some awesome outerwear, and I’ll happily wear my clean, clean look of black skinny jeans and a turtleneck underneath, letting my top layer take the limelight.

This season features some of the best jackets I’ve ever seen, with fun candy colors, quirky printed patterns, and soft sheepskin styles which are just a few of my favorite trends. This season’s selection takes into account both style and function, from dreamy coats that sweep the floor to short, fluffy razors durable enough to keep me warm from fall through the colder days of January. Plus, investing in a good quality jacket can be a lifelong purchase, so no need for buyer’s remorse over something that won’t be wearable after a long time. I am confident that my jacket investments will be worn for many years to come, and even longer.

Of course, having a neutral and sleek coat is a staple in any stylish woman’s wardrobe, but I can’t wait to break out my eclectic outerwear this season and face the gloomy weather with a sunny disposition. The next step on my pre-winter activity list is to get rid of my wardrobe of the pieces I never wear and consolidate it for a clean, cohesive wardrobe that my evening jackets will complement.

Coming up, shop my favorite evening jackets that promise to take any winter wardrobe to the next level.
