80s fashion show scheduled for Friday at Northern Winz
The Northern Winz Hotel & Casino will host its fifth annual Honor Our Legacy Fashion Show at 5 p.m. Friday, preceded by the Women’s Health Fair.
Games Commissioner Rebekah Jarvey, coordinator of the event, said she was delighted to be able to host this free event which this year features well-known artists and fashion designers from across the Indian country including Elias Not Afraid, JG Indie and Sage Mountain Flower.
Categories for the event include contemporary Aboriginal fashion for men and women, and best dressed ’80s style with cash prizes for the winners, as well as an’ 80s Big Hair contest.
It will also include a live performance by Nataanii Means, a Native American hip-hop artist who is about to release his third album, and a 10 a.m. modeling workshop by Squash Blossom Duo.
The event will be announced by Russell Standing Rock, Montana Cree will be the host drum and American Legion Post 67 will be the color guard.
The fashion show will be preceded by the Women’s Health Show, hosted by the Rocky Boy Health Center, with presenters Tami Ralston and Jackie Houle, after which there will be a brief intermission before the start of the fashion show.
