Arsenal could finally make money for loaner midfielder Lucas Torreira

Arsenal’s season can be defined wholeheartedly as transitional: a change of style, the formation of a new culture and the movement of many players in and out of the club. Others are due to arrive, which means a cash injection is needed, with the Lucas Torreira key.

Serie A this and La Liga that, the volume of clubs interested in Lucas Torreira could have seen him play a game either side is rumored to want him this season and still have plenty to spare. His future is becoming quite tiring.

His struggles at Atletico Madrid are well documented, starting just three La Liga games all season and falling well in the pecking order, naturally, for those who have served Diego Simeone well.

He has no future under Mikel Arteta and will be transferred this summer to free up funds, with a club ultimately appearing as if they would take him out of Arsenal’s hands for good. La Fiorentina have been chasing his signing since last summer and, having missed his mark once, are determined not to let him escape their grip again.

Fiorentina lead pursuit of permanent Lucas Torreira deal with Arsenal

La Viola were seen as “ahead” of other clubs in talks for the Uruguayan, with the midfielder even giving the green light to complete the move this summer. Italian publication Corriere Fiorentino (via Sport Witness) has since confirmed this, saying the club have a “clear advantage” in the race at Torreira.

All that could derail any deal is for Fiorentina not to pull themselves together and slide to Serie A, as they are currently in 14th place with just 25 points from 23 matches. All signs point to a deal being made and ready for the summer.

Given how colossal the rebuilding is at Arsenal, every penny that can be taken out of the players allowed to leave must be accumulated. Alexandre Lacazette will be moved, but anyone interested will know he can make an offer for a player Arsenal have to change due to age and contract length.

Whatever fees have accumulated for Torreira, they will not match what Arsenal paid. No one is paying £ 26million. Very few even have £ 26million. But if it’s a deal that needs to happen as soon as the window opens, that’s one less problem to deal with in the summer.
