First look inside the huge new Flannels flagship store now open in Liverpool city center
Flannels’ huge new Liverpool flagship store has finally opened in Liverpool’s thriving city centre.
Occupying the sprawling Owen Owen building, which once housed a Tesco Metro store, the site has been completely transformed to give Liverpool shoppers a taste of luxury. Open to the public today, June 23, Flannels will be the city’s most exclusive and experiential department store, merging retail and leisure under one roof, with a mix of top brands, dining options and internal experiences.
The new store will include four locations open from morning until late evening. Downstairs, the stylish Bacino Restaurant will offer modern Italian cuisine in a setting that fuses retro elements with the comfort and luxury of modern living. An all-day menu will incorporate brunch classics alongside pizzas, pastas, aperitif cocktails, coffees and desserts, all concocted with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Upon entering the store, visitors will also be greeted by an expansive beauty floor that features top brands like Chanel, Givenchy, Hermès, Gucci and more, alongside skincare specialists like Dermalogica, experts in Olaplex haircare, social media titan Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin, plus slightly lesser-known — but no less effective — brands like First Aid Beauty and Pixi. There’s plenty of open space to explore, with each beauty counter fully stocked with all the latest products.
All traces of its former host have been removed from the magnificent building, creating a haven of shopping and dining amidst the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The ground floor sets a precedent for the rest of Flannels’ new luxury department store, which spans six floors.
In a city well known for its passion for fashion and impressive shopping scene, Flannels is sure to impress locals and tourists alike with its wide range of luxury ready-to-wear and streetwear. There are sections dedicated to high-end fashion houses like Gucci and Burberry, as well as smaller concessions devoted to equally well-known brands such as Prada, Christian Louboutin, Balenciaga, Jacquemus and more.
A Vivienne Westwood section offers accessories such as trendy bucket hats in stylish pastel gingham prints and more, as well as a curated selection of clothing. There’s even a selection of items from luxury French fashion house Chloé, ensuring that any fashionista will be spoiled for choice when venturing into Flannels.
The space has been sympathetically and elegantly transformed, with smooth, gray concrete walls and pillars juxtaposed with retro tiled floors and printed rugs creating comfort and a range of textures. It’s clear that every square inch of the space has been given special attention – even the escalators are given a futuristic element with neon lighting in vibrant shades of pinks and purples.
On the sixth floor, three additional venues will open this fall, including a rooftop brasserie, bar and pan-Asian restaurant. With its own entrance, the sixth-floor venues will open outside of store hours while offering sweeping city views in a space suitable for all sorts of occasions.
Serving brunch, small plates and an eclectic mix of classic dishes, plus signature cocktails, coffee and wine; whether you’re enjoying brunch, working from the lounge, meeting friends for dinner, or sipping drinks with an enviable view, the brasserie is the perfect meeting place day or night.
The Pan-Asian restaurant will take inspiration from some of the world’s most famous venues, with an open kitchen taking center stage.
Those wishing to grab a drink or two can do so at the new rooftop bar, where trained bartenders serve a mix of expertly crafted modern and classic cocktails, accompanied by an extensive wine and beer list. There will be DJs every weekend and special events planned throughout the year.
The venues will be created and operated by Zanna Hospitality Group, the brand behind some of the North West’s most beloved restaurants, including Evelyn’s Café Bar, Les Deux Pizza Bar, Arlo’s, The Daisy and more, as well as many of the new restaurants in Flannels. sites in Sheffield and Leicester.
Sax Arshad, Managing Director of Zanna Group, said: “We’ve been looking to open in Liverpool for a while now, it’s such a vibrant city with an exciting food and drink scene that we’ve always wanted to be part of. A unique space we provided the opportunity to bring not just one but four new concepts to the city.
“Each of our spaces will offer something slightly different – from a work space to a place to party late at night, there will be something for everyone and we look forward to opening the doors later this year and ‘welcome the city.’
Flannels also houses a Barry’s fitness studio on the fifth floor. Barry’s aims to be “the global destination for getting the best workout of your life”. There are a range of effective exercise classes you can sign up for.
