We reveal the latest products to earn those coveted awards based on outstanding reviews from critics.

There are four levels of quality seal – Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze – which are awarded to products based on the number of reviews they receive from scientists and the average rating of those reviews.

The latest laboratory instruments to earn a valuable seal of quality have been announced in recognition of the outstanding feedback received from scientists around the world.

Quality Seals recognize the 0.1% of products that consistently receive the highest customer ratings on SelectScience® and are designed to help scientists and healthcare professionals around the world immediately recognize the instruments and services their peers value most.

Zymo Research is no stranger to quality seals, having won 10 awards last year alone, and it looks like 2022 will be no different. In launching this year’s announcement, Zymo Research has earned a Platinum seal of approval for its Direct-zol™ RNA Miniprep Plus, the first Platinum to be awarded to the company.

The Direct-zol™ RNA Miniprep Plus has received over 200 reviews, with a respectable average rating of 4.8 out of 5. One reviewer, Elias Malek of the University of Nevada, commented, “Great results, I will stay with Zymo for a while. .” Another reviewer, Manas Agrawal of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, also said, “Everyone should know about Zymo’s excellent support team who help out when needed with technical details.”

Zymo’s success doesn’t stop there. The Zymoclean™ Gel DNA Recovery Kit also earned a Quality Gold Seal for receiving 100 reviews with an impressive 4.9 out of 5 rating. Tessa Shates of the University of California, Riverside, described the kit as “essential for my research”. Zymo Research remains the most successful seal of approval recipient to date, with 11 awards in total.

It was just a few months ago when we announced that quality seal newcomer NanoEntek had won a silver quality seal for its automated cell counters. However, NanoEntek has already taken the next step, earning the Automated Cell Counter Quality Gold Seal, for receiving 100 reviews with an average rating of 4.8 stars out of 5. Reviewer Thomas MacMurrough, of Specific Biologics, said the counters are: “A powerful and easy-to-use piece of equipment that you can’t live without!”

A new quality seal in bronze is awarded to Malvern Panalytical for the Empyrean – XRD. Overall, the product received 51 reviews and an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5. Reviewer Alejandro Capapé Miralles, of the Institut Català d’Investigació Química (ICIQ), commented that: “The Empyrean is an undoubtedly powerful tool for solid state characterization.” This is the second seal of quality achieved by Malvern Panalytical products. The Mastersizer 3000 received a Gold Seal of Quality in 2020.

Two new quality seals in bronze were also awarded to Metrohm, the first to be awarded to the manufacturer. Both the 901 Titrando for Karl Fischer Titration and the 913 pH Meter have received over 50 reviews with an average rating of 4.5 and 4.7 out of 5 stars respectfully.
